Sky Watch Friday in Lancaster,Ohio (a story of Grace)

NEW CHURCH: After the service a young couple talked to a church member about joining the church. He hadn't met the husband before, and he asked what church he was transferring from.After a short hesitation, he replied,"I am transferring from the Municipal Golf Course." (SOUNDS LIKE ME)

CHURCH INSTRUCTION: A Sunday school teacher asked the children just before she dismissed them to go to church, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"Annie replied, "Because people are sleeping."

  BIBLE LESSON: A Sunday School teacher asked her class why Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem. A small child replied: "They couldn't get a baby sitter."

There may be a lot of problems in the world today but at least Romans  aren’t throwing Christians to the lions.

I believe the world is God’s tapestry. The sky is His loom and the clouds,sun,rain,moon,and stars  are some of the threads He uses to weave his tapestry of Grace. (Joe Todd 2009)

More church Funnies and More Skies

FOUND SOMETHING NEW (at least new to me)

Michelle from Creative Treasures stopped by my Watery Wednesday post and made a comment. Naturally I stopped by her blog to view her post and leave a comment. Michelle is very creative and has a great blog. Well I noticed she was creating cards/pictures/photos using something called Digichick so I had to check it out.

AND:

I was able to download a free starter kit and with it design the above card. I really enjoy editing/creating pictures etc. on the computer so I now have a new tool to use. Thanks Michelle I will be looking forward to seeing more of your creations and photos of the Oregon coast on your blog   Joe Todd

A TOWN WITHOUT AN ALLEY is A TOWN WITHOUT A SOUL Joe Todd 2009

(A MY WORLD POST) Here in Lancaster Ohio we have a plethora of alleys and I’m glad. I have a blind alley behind my house and that is called a cul-de-sac. Chicago,Illinois has the largest network of alleys in the world,about 1,900 miles worth.

 

Those two houses are separated by an alley. Not only that they don’t face on a street they face on an alley.

For the most part the Alleys in Lancaster,Ohio are made of brick though some are grass. “ A Way To Go” is what “Alley” means in France.

Sometimes you will find white picket fences ,barns or garages in alleys.Just to add to the confusion here are some other terms for alley: snickets, ginnels,close, jennels,twitten,jigger,gulley,twichell,or  wynd and pend. I also like backyards.

Whether it be a street or an alley an Ohio winter is cold and snowy. So:::::

 The rooster was hanging out in an alley.

DAY TRIP FROM LANCASTER,OHIO TO LONGABERGER HOMESTEAD AND FACTORY “DISCOVER OHIO”

The “Home Office” of Longaberger is only a seven story Basket.

The Longaberger company is family owned and is dedicated to making products right here in America. Linda and I thought this would be a great place to visit on this 9-11-09

Members of the Longaberger family; Wendy and Larry were on hand to “sign your basket”. In particular I liked Larry’s “workshop” and in talking to Wendy I found her to be a “hoot”

Starting to get a little hungry so we are off to get a bite to eat.

Well we get inside the restaurant and who do we see. I asked the mime if he left us anything to eat but didn’t get any response. Imagine that. We had a great lunch for just a little over $15.00 and with our energy restored we set out for a little shopping and touring.

Room after room of “goodies” cooking lessons and a snack bar. Before heading over to the “factory” we relax and listen to some very good music.

I don’t know her name but she sure did know how to sing. Next,we take the shuttle bus over to the “factory” and “factory store” where you can enroll in “basket making 101”. Learn how to weave your very own basket with a skilled artisan showing you the “way to weave”

  Wait a minute the fellow in the top center photo isn’t making a basket.

Taking a closer look he was in the pie eating contest,which I missed. At any rate it was a great outing on a beautiful day in Ohio.

One last comment: On the shuttle bus the woman driver said, “you know where everything is.” I said, “am I suppose to know where everything is” She thought a moment and said, “well no you’re a man”
