First post of 2013 a Sky Watch Friday Post..The weather outside was pretty cold , but things warmed up inside with visits to the Desert and Palm House…..

While visiting the Conservatory I had the chance to Discover artist Aurora Robson.
Robson’s vibrant and intricate works created from discarded materials are on view within the Conservatory’s plant collections and in the Cardinal Health Gallery. This will be an upcoming post.

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens offers enriching and memorable experiences inspired by art, culture and the botanical world.

The state fair occupied the site of the Conservatory until 1884….History was made on August 11, 1880 when General William Tecumseh Sherman (of Lancaster,Ohio) delivered his famous statement, “ War Is Hell” in a speech to Civil War veterans.(Always looking for the Lancaster,Ohio connection LOL)

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers,

wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much,

spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men

and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones,

because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it.

A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

“Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side.”

  Like the barn I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, 'cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning at times.

Sometimes we get to Leaning toward anger

Sometimes we get to Leaning toward bitterness

Sometimes we get to Leaning  toward hatred

Sometimes we get to Leaning toward cussing

Sometimes we get to Leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn't.

So we need to pray, “Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, So we will stand straight and tall again, To glorify the Lord.'' I don’t know about you but I’ve done a lot of leaning in my life but not so much anymore. Actually, I’ve been able to help with some propping and I attribute that ability to prayers like this and GRACE.

Sometimes major rebuilding,do over,mulligan needs to be done and I am reminded of the story of  The Apostle Saul/  Paul ….

WIFE’S DIARY….

Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk.

He agreed, but he didn't say much.I asked him what was wrong; He said, 'Nothing..' I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it.

On the way home, I told him that I loved him. He smiled slightly, and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior. I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.

He just sat there quietly, and watched TV. He continued to seem distant and absent. Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed.

About 15 minutes later, he came to bed. But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else. He fell asleep; I cried.

I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a …………………….
