LANCASTER,OHIO THE “PRESSED GLASS CAPITAL OF OHIO”

My thanks to William D. Eckman director of the Ohio Glass Museum.

A My World Tuesday post. Click on link and discover the World.

Map picture

The Ohio Glass Museum 124 W. Main St. Lancaster,Ohio reflects the glassmaking industry in Lancaster and Fairfield County.

SHERMANEWING General Sherman and Senator Ewing welcome you to Lancaster, Ohio and suggest you visit the Ohio Glass Museum. (The history of glass making is fascinating).

Project1  Stop by the Gift Shop and check out the “pieces” by Anchor-Hocking, Lancaster Glass, Erickson, Heisey, Fostoria, and Fenton.

Project2

Over the years Lancaster,Ohio has been home to more than forty different glass companies.

Project3

Learn about glass making technology and check out the educational curriculum.

Project4  Yes that is a vault (upper right hand photo). Will that be the future “Treasures of Ohio Room?” The museum is located in what was once a bank and will eventually contain 12,000 square feet .

100_4692 I hang out with Senator Ewing all day and we both are glad you stopped by for a visit. There is a continuously showing movie called Born of Fire that Joe Todd didn’t take the time to watch so he is just going to have to come back for another visit.

After visiting the museum make sure to have lunch at The Four Reasons Bakery&Deli  and don’t forget the carrot cake.

NUMBER 1. Ohio Fall Skies

3

These sky photos were taken in the Hocking Hills area of S.E. Ohio. CLEAR CREEK METRO PARK

NUMBER 2.  Heading south to Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

2

These photos were taken from the 6th floor of the condo Linda and I were staying in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. The photos show a controlled burn taking place south east of the condo.

NUMBER 3. Sky, Trees, and beach, On the beach at SANIBEL/CAPTIVA

1

Blue are the tears
On my saddest day,
Blue is the ocean
To wash them away.

Blue is the sapphire
That glows in the light,
Blue is the moon
that shines at night.
Blue sounds like sad music
Mellow and low,
Blue is the bruise
On my big toe.

Blue tastes like a hot meal
On a rainy day,
Blue is the feeling of
A spring day in May.

Blue is the rhythm
Of beating drums,
Blue is the sound
Of annoying hums.

Blue is a very good
Color you see,
Blue is the rhythm
of you and me!

Lindsay
5th grade  I don’t know who Lindsay is but I want to say thanks and what a great poem. When I was in the 5th grade I couldn’t write a poem like that and I couldn’t do it today.
