WalkAbout Key West Florida the Conch Republic

Walkabout Key West Florida the Conch Republic. A great place to spend some QUALITY TIME… I doubt the place ever sleeps LOL

MQTlogoa A WALKABOUT KEYWEST FLORIDA. We will start in Fort Myers Beach and take the Key West Express to our destination.DSC_0074For us this was a four hour trip each way and we all took seasick “pills”. The seas were rough and poor Linda really had a rough time. She swears she will NEVER EVER get on another boat. Anyway as we leave Fort Myers (might as well link to Sunday Bridges).

DSC_0164 We really didn’t have time to take the tour. The cost would have been $13.00 per person and no photos were allowed. With more time would probably have been interesting.

keywestbouy The Conch Republic… Conchs..

Many of the residents of Key West were immigrants from the Bahamas, known as Conchs (pronounced 'conks'), who arrived in increasing numbers after 1830. Many were descendants of Loyalists who fled to the nearest Crown colony during the American Revolution.(What is a Fresh Water Conch???) You will just have to look it up LOL

coolperson Hope you enjoyed the post..Stay COOL…………………….CLICK for famous Florida Sunsets

Note on the Key West Express:: If you have any tendency for seasickness and the seas are rough at all watch out. On the trip back you could not walk about the boat without going from one hand hold to another. Personally I was lucky when I wasn’t helping Linda I was able to sit at a table and watch a couple shows. The crew had ample “Barf Bags” to pass out.
