I really do appreciate Linda “putting up with” my “museum stops” (Marietta Georgia)

“The landlady and owner of the Kennesaw House was Cole’s mother-in-law. Very interesting, the Kennesaw House is the only building on the square not burned by Sherman. Since I live in Lancaster, Ohio Fairfield County the home of General Sherman, I find this very interesting. Also, by stopping in Marietta Georgia I discovered the the very first Congressional Medal of Honor was given to Jacob Parrott from Fairfield County Ohio. (It is a small world)

DSC_0052DSC_0066 The docent Linda and I spoke to at  The Marietta Museum of History was very knowledgeable and has lived in Georgia for over thirty years. He is originally from Zanesville,Ohio. (just down the road from Lancaster, Ohio)

General Sherman and I say,”Thanks for stopping by. We hope you enjoyed the post. Linda and I were on our way to Florida for a week and we stopped in Marietta, Georgia as a “mid way point.” Marietta, Georgia  was a wonderful stop with many interesting things to see and do even with a limited amount of time. I found the town square in Marietta,Georgia and the town square in Lancaster,Ohio to be very similar in nature with fountains, statues, and gazebos. The two cities seem to share a lot of history also.

R.I.P. B.B. King

MQTlogoa Some real Quality Time music…..

BB King has died. The legendary blues guitarist passed away Thursday in Las Vegas, his attorney confirmed. He was 89 years old.

Riley B. King was born to sharecropper parents on a cotton plantation in Mississippi in 1925. Learning the fundamentals of the Blues from his mother’s cousin and Blues legend, Bukka White, King began his career in music as early as twelve years old, when he got his first guitar.

“The Stairs” in the Hocking Hills of Ohio

MQTlogoa For a Spiritual start to the day “The Stairs” by T.D. Garrison and a couple photos of mine taken in the Hocking Hills of Ohio.

DSC_0017

Oh long and dark the stairs I trod,
with stumbling feet to find my God,
Gaining a foothold bit by bit
Then slipping back and losing it.

DSC_0074

There came a certain time when I
Loosened my hold and fell thereby,
Down to the lowest step my fall
As if I had not climbed at all.

DSC_0071

And as I lay despairing there,
there came a footfall on the stairs
And 'lo' when hope had ceased to be
My God came down the stairs to me.

jtf1 Hope everyone has a great day. Linda and I certainly enjoyed hiking in The Hocking Hills of Ohio.

Ready To Roll With Our T@B Trailer

MQTlogoa As some of you know Linda and I have always enjoyed camping/traveling. We decided to trade in our tent and get a small camping trailer. The T@B Q Max is what we decided on. T@B is manufactured right here in Ohio by Little Guy Worldwide: 4122 Erie Ave. S.W., Massillon, Ohio 44646

DSC_0006 A big thanks to Bruce Miller RV Specialist at Haydocy RV on West Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio. When we pulled out of the lot (thanks to Bruce ) all our questions about the T@B had been answered and we were Ready to Roll.

So for our “shake down” trip::

DSC_0053 You can’t beat a trip to Old Man’s Cave Camp Ground in the Hocking Hills of Ohio.

Linda and I spent four days and three nights at the campground and had a wonderful/comfortable time. In the evenings it was a little chilly but with the Alde heating system we were as warm as toast.

DSC_0045 I found the T@B very easy to tow with my Trail Blazer.
