Big Skies…Big Land..Big Skies

Big Skies…Big Land…Our Western Skies

MQTlogoa Arizona,Utah,Colorado,New Mexico for Sky Watch Friday

“Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.” Abdul Kalam

“The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” Rabindranath Tagore

“Go forth under the open sky, and list To Nature's teachings.” William C. Bryant

“The sky is an infinite movie to me. I never get tired of looking at what's happening up there.” K. D. Lang

“This continent, an open palm spread frank before the sky.” James Agee

When you visit the West and if you look real close you just might see some of these folks.

“Onward from vast uncharted spaces, Forward through timeless voids, Into all of us surges and races The measureless might of the wind. In the steep silence of thin blue air High on a lonely cliff-ledge, Where the air has a clear, clean rarity, I give to the pledge: “ By the strength of my arm, by the sight of my eyes, By the skill of my fingers, I swear, As long as life dwells in me, never will I Follow any way but the sweeping way of the wind.” Published in On Desert Trails with Everett Ruess, G.J. Bergera & W.L Rusho (Eds.

"There is a muscular energy in sunlight  corresponding to the spiritual energy of wind."  Annie Dillard

“May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome dangerous, leading to the most amazing view…
May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.”  Edward Abbey

“They cannot scare me with their empty spaces
Between stars – on stars where no human race is.
I have it in me so much nearer home To scare myself with my own desert places.”
Robert Frost

Looks like a similar trip that we took in 2011... I recognize many of those photos...

What did you like the best? We love Bryce.. But--seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time was awesome.

There is something quite overpoweringly beautiful about your Arizona landscapes but the castle seems to and gondola seem to be European imports and where did you find that herd of bison??

The castle is the Desert View watchtower on the south rim of the Grand Canyon and the bison herd is on a ranch near Zion National Park just west of Mt Carmel Junction on Rt. 9
