What was the sounding board for? (We've been to Wmsburg a couple of times, but I con't remember this chapel.
Sallie the sounding board helps with the Acoustics in the church. This was the first sounding board I had ever seen and was new to me. The church is at the opposite end of the Green from the Governor's Palace
and good thinking to have uncomfortable chairs to keep everyone awake :)

Now that is a pulpit is I have ever seen one....beautiful! Love the old wood and the soundboard.
