FROM BLIZZARD TO SUNSHINE WITH A LITTLE GOLF AND FISHING

This video of the Blizzard of 1977 starts slow but is really interesting. ( Jimmy Carter was President)( The announcer says, “If your stranded in your car stay there don’t panic you could get killed out there.” “You will be rescued.”) ( Wind Chill between –40 & –60 degrees.) (29 Deaths)

Well we have snow and Gray/Grey skies in Ohio but nothing like the above video portrays. My wandering road trip is to warmer climes, Hilton Head S.C. where I hope to play some golf and do a little fishing. Accuweather says days high temps for the area should be high 50’s low 60’s… Puts a smile on my face.

Will be playing the Arthur Hill,Trent Jones, and Fazio golf courses at Palmetto dunes

Hope to take a lot of photos and see the sun and some blue sky.

ANTIETAM BATTLEFIELD and the BURNSIDE BRIDGE for WATERY WEDNESDAY

A WATERY WEDNESDAY POST

WateryWed2c

100_1405

Linda and I cross the river as we leave Harpers Ferry heading for Antietam Battlefield where The Bloodiest One Day Battle in American History occurred. It is late in the day so first let’s stop for dinner at a cafe in Shepherdstown West Virginia

100_1428

We are tired after a long day so a stop at the Bavarian Inn with it’s scenic location overlooking the Potomac river where fog and water are the order of the evening. ( can’t see the river for the fog)

100_1426

We are up early the next day heading for the battlefield where for the purpose of this post we will explore The Burnside Bridge. On Sept. 17, 1862 General Burnside and 12,000 Union soldiers met the Confederate soldiers, under the command of Brigadier General Robert Toombs. (Today some say the Bridge is haunted)
