Tackle Northern Ontario a world away from Lancaster,Ohio

A world away from Lancaster,Ohio you have Northern Ontario and the French River water system that runs from Lake Nippising to Georgian Bay which is part of Lake Huron for Watery Wednesday and SkyWatch Friday

Float Plane taking off from Dry Pine Bay near Loons Landing about 7:00 P,M. very little wind and smooth water.(I was lucky to get a photo)

Linda and I were staying at Ridgewood Cottage. The photo below depicts the typical weather for our seven day stay. (Remember in Canada you have to convert from Centigrade to Fahrenheit and Liters to Gallons if you are going to convert at all, I say just go metric.)

FRAMEDSKYWATER1  We spent most of our time on the French River main channel. “Renown for its fishing, the French River offers walleye, bass, northern pike, musky, and pan fish. Wonderful boating waters with many miles of rocky, pine covered, and undeveloped shorelines.”

FRAMEDSKYWATER2

My brother-in-law Larry caught a Muskie in these waters. (Muskellunge are the largest member of the pike family, Esocidae)

FRAMEDSKYWATER3

Our 25 year old Tracker boat took us wherever we wanted to go and gave us no problems. (always a worry for me)

FRAMEDSKYWATER4

“The French River has a colorful past. For thousands of years before Europeans arrived, Aboriginal people used the river as a place to meet and exchange trade goods. Early French explorers and missionaries began travelling through the area in the early 1600s, leaving behind intriguing journal records about the river and the people who lived along its shores. Before Canada became a country, Voyageurs were paddling its waters – brigades of canoes portaged around rapids and waterfalls – transporting furs from Canada’s great Northwest to market in Montreal.” READ MORE

Our Drive By Tour of Mennonite Country in Southwestern Ontario,Canada

YES WE ARE BACK FROM OUR WANDERING TRIP TO ONTARIO,CANADA. BACK IN LANCASTER,OHIO WE HAVE TWO TREES FULL OF PEACHES AND HUNDREDS OF TOMATOES TO PROCESS SO I GUESS IT IS BACK TO WORK LOL

Our Drive By Tour of Mennonite Country in Southwestern Ontario,Canada for That’s My World Tuesday

“Traversing picturesque countryside through the Counties of Waterloo, Perth and Wellington in Southern Ontario, one almost feels out of place driving a car. Fields of golden stooks await horse-drawn wagons to take them the barn for threshing. Doddy haus hunker next to century old farm houses with their telltale green trim. Homes are surrounded by large, well-kept gardens and orchards. Laundry billows in the wind on long lines.” READ MORE

“HOME-MADE RICE PUDDING Ingredients:
½ cup white sugar
1/8 cup honey
½ cup uncooked white rice
¾ cup golden raisins
2½ cups whole milk
½ cup cream
1¼ teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon cornstarch.

Mix the cornstarch with a little milk then mix all ingredients together. Put the mixture into a buttered casserole and bake at 325 degrees for approximately one hour. A brown skin should be baked on the top of the pudding. Stir this skin into the pudding and bake another one hour until another skin forms. Check carefully. Add a little milk if the pudding seems as though it is drying out. Test the rice as it bakes. You want it soft. Do not overbake this pudding. Serve with fresh thick cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon.”

youngjoetodd Joe Todd saying, “Thanks for stopping by and if you want to see some great “Watery Photos” click on the logo below.” As a child my favorite thing was making sandcastles and then watching the tide come in and wash them away. About the time the above photo was taken my Grandmother took me to Florida for a week at the beach and I got to make my first sandcastle.
