#2 National Road::Clifton Mill & Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve

THAT’S MY WORLD,WATERY WEDNESDAY,NATIONAL ROAD,CLIFTON MILL,CLIFTON GORGE,VIRTUAL HIKE

The National Road, in many places known as Route 40, was built between 1811 and 1834 to reach the western settlements. So let’s go Honkin’ Down the Highway with the Beach Boys as we visit Clifton Mill and Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve.

Taking the National Road RD. 40 West out of Columbus,Ohio to Springfield then Rt. #72 (Simon Kenton Trace) South to Clifton,Ohio.

First stop is Clifton Mill because I’m hungry. (imagine that)

DSC_0153 Good thing I don’t need gas..The station is closed. I’ll just head over to the Mill.

Now for layered corned beef or pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian or Thousand Island dressing, grilled between slices of rye bread with chips and pickle. The Reuben Special about $12.00 including tip.

Storm Watching for SkyWatch Friday (Lancaster,Ohio)

TORNADO,LANCASTER,OHIO,STORMS,SKYWATCH FRIDAY

On October 26th 2010:: Officially six tornadoes touched down in the state of Ohio. If you live in Lancaster,Ohio the best view would be from Mount Pleasant.. I’ll share some photos from that day.

TORNADOWARNIGNG  DSC_0003 When these photos were taken the storm warning sirens in Lancaster,Ohio were blaring.

First photo,I’m heading to the top of Mount Pleasant DSC_0009

Next a series of photos taken from the top of Mount Pleasant showing the city of Lancaster as the storm approached. Thank goodness there was no tornado in Lancaster but we did have some strong in-line winds and a lot of rain.

At this point I’m getting ready to get off Mount Pleasant. There were two other (NUTS) up there besides myself. Two of us left and the other fellow stayed. (He had a camera LOL)

Really getting windy and starting to rain. There is a cave about thirty seconds from where I’m standing that offered protection from wind/rain.
