WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY OR PRESIDENTS DAY A VISIT TO MONTICELLO

Quick tour of Monticello for Presidents Day

DSC_0251

“Situated on a mountaintop outside Charlottesville, Virginia, Monticello, a 5,000-acre plantation, was the home of Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, third president of the United States, and founder of the University of Virginia. Monticello is the only historic house in the U.S. on the United Nations' World Heritage List.” CLICK to start planning your visit

The following is a series of photos from our 2010 visit to Charlottesville Virginia and Monticello. Linda and I really enjoyed our visit and |I in particular enjoyed the gardens

Thomas Jefferson

“In the thick of party conflict in 1800, Thomas Jefferson wrote in a private letter, "I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."This powerful advocate of liberty was born in 1743 in Albemarle County, Virginia, inheriting from his father, a planter and surveyor, some 5,000 acres of land, and from his mother, a Randolph, high social standing. He studied at the College of William and Mary, then read law. In 1772 he married Martha Wayles Skelton, a widow, and took her to live in his partly constructed mountaintop home, Monticello.” CLICK to read more

Marcellus Shale & Gas Drilling In Ohio

IN OHIO PARK LANDS??????????

JOETODDSAYS210 What got me interested in this was the news article concerning Gov. Kasich proposed drilling for natural gas “Fracking” in the Ohio State Park system( I really like our parks) For the past few days I have been researching what this might mean for the state of Ohio. Initially, I was aghast this might happen. Let me say I am all for “energy independence” and responsible “economic growth”. Lack of jobs, government deficits, and the recession sure hasn’t been a picnic. If you are at all interested watch this 60 minutes program. (There is some balance to the presentation.)

The statement I liked and my opinion at this time; “Promote natural gas but hold the industry accountable to higher standards.”

Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp., a leading U.S. producer of natural gas and would probably be the company to take the lead in developing this natural resource. From what I have read this would be the best company for the job

“Kasich says Marcellus Shale could be ‘godsend’ for Ohio” John Kasich on Dec. 30 said natural gas drilling in a geological formation that stretches into Ohio could boost the state’s economy by attracting businesses and helping to put skilled workers back on the job.

‘FRACKING” CAN BE PRETTY SCARY. DO YOUR OWN GOOGLE//YOUTUBE SEARCHES AND SEE WHAT I MEAN. IF OHIO APPROVES THIS AND THE DRILLING GOES AHEAD WE JUST NEED TO PRAY IT IS DONE RIGHT WITH THE PROPER OVERSIGHT. AT LEAST MR. MUSTINE THE NEW HEAD OF THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IS AN ORDAINED MINISTER. LOL

mypictr_Facebook As always thanks for stopping by. Sorry, I haven’t posted in awhile. We have been looking at smaller units (light weight) & (Economical) that have everything we need. Yet this unit is big enough for 2 adults and in our case some GRAND CHILDREN.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO PHIL AND KERMIT FROM POST’S TRAVELAND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THE MANY FEATURES OF THE SPORTSMEN CLASSIC. ( KERMIT IS THE “OLDER” DISTINGUISHED LOOKING GUY) lol

FRAMEDPHILKERMIT

OH and this is IMPORTANT the PRICE was under $9000.00 dollars. Now I call that a great price. As I went around to see some of the other units at other dealers I found “pop ups” that are priced higher. There was one problem; I explained to Phil that I was the proud owner of five tents and I wondered if they would take them in on “trade”. Phil said,”Sorry we don’t take “tents” on trade.” Maybe when I head back up to Westerville to the dealership I’ll see what Kermit says. LOL

JOETODDSAYS210 As always thanks for stopping by and let’s think “ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS” P.S. remember next Sat. is the Winter Hike in the Hocking Hills
