“We weaken our greatness when we confuse our patriotism with tribal rivalries that have sown resentment and hatred and violence in all the corners of the globe. We weaken it when we hide behind walls, rather than tear them down, when we doubt the power of our ideals, rather than trust them to be the great force for change they have always been.”
— Senator John McCain (2018)
“Four reasons the United States doesn’t seem so united anymore” READ ARTICLE Joe Pierre M.D. from Psychology Today…. Worth the read..
Some of “My Friends” both Democrats and Republicans on Facebook have made very disparaging exaggerated and untrue statements concerning each other. The attack ads for the most recent election gave me the idea I shouldn’t vote for either candidate. I think this “win at all costs mentality” is very divisive for for our country. The article from Psychology Today adds some much needed perspective. Thanks for stopping by and have a Great Day…… (For my own part, I will be more careful about what I post/comment)

John McCrae’s ‘In Flanders Fields’
“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.”
My thoughts on a sad situation:: There was a mass shooting in a popular bar in Thousand Oaks, California. Twelve are dead. The killer was a local ex-Marine. For his final act, he killed himself.

Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.
There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage.”
“I wanted to invent an engine that could run for ever. I could have developed a new train, had I stayed in the railway. It would have looked like the AK-47 though.
I made it to protect the motherland.
I was probably born with some designing abilities.”
I was talking to a young woman in the VFW last night.
She said, "If you lost a few pounds, had a shave and got your hair cut, you'd look all right.”
I said, “If I did that, I'd be talking to your friends over there instead of you.”
Cost me a fat lip, but...

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below. She shouts to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consults his portable GPS and replies, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.
She rolls her eyes and says, "You must be a Republican!"
"I am," replies the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answers the balloonist, "everything you tell me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me."
The man smiles and responds, "You must be a Democrat."
"I am, replies the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," says the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."
