Tybee Island is an island and city in Chatham County, Georgia near the city of Savannah in the southeastern United States.

After leaving the beach at Tybee Island Linda and I strolled the quaint streets of Savannah

On the way back to Hilton Head Island we stop for a bite to eat and a view of the marshlands.

We usually stay at Palmetto Dunes (great condos) if we are at Hilton Head. A quick stop at the Outfitters

Then we stroll back to our condo for the evening

Yes there is golf; Trent Jones,Fazio,Arthur Hill (none of them are easy) Well it has been a long day but finally we are back at our Condo on St. Andrews Ct.

One of my favorite places at Palmetto Dunes is the General Store. A great place to stop for a quick breakfast or lunch ( talking fried chicken ).. The Palmetto Dunes General Store even has a page on Facebook I follow.

EARTH ANGEL SUPER CRUISE-IN AND CAR SHOW LANCASTER,OHIO

 LANCASTER,OHIO SUMMER 2010 for That’s My World Tuesday

There is a lot going on in Lancaster this summer. A couple really great events kept me busy and I always like to take photos.

Frank & Ernest I did have a chance to go to both events but for the purpose of this post I’ll share some photos from the car show. The Gus Macker Basketball tournament took place in downtown Lancaster and the car show was at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds. In the previous post the photo of the “summer fountain” shows people attending the basketball tournament taking a break.

The mission of the Earth Angel Foundation of Ohio is to send terminally and/or life threatening ill children on dream vacations. Visit their site and be a Dream Maker.

The History: The Earth Angel founder, Denny Erwin, along with two central Ohio car clubs, The Corvettes of Lancaster and the Mid-Ohio Cruisers, joined forces to send terminally ill children on dream vacations to any destination within the continental United States. THE SEASONS CHANGE IN LANCASTER,OHIO FOR WATERY WEDNESDAY.

In the heart of Lancaster,Ohio we have  Zane Square  featuring a fountain purchased in New York City with funds raised in the 1890s by a group of local women.

There is a lot to see on and near Zane Square. One can Pick up a cassette tape or a map at the Visitors Bureau or Shaw's Restaurant & Inn, both right on the Square.

NOT ALL THAT FAR FROM LANCASTER,OHIO WE HAVE THE GHOST TOWN OF SAN TOY

For a couple years now I have been meaning to explore the Ghost Town Of San Toy, Ohio only about one hour away from Lancaster. “San Toy is a ghost town in northeastern Monroe Township, Perry County, Ohio, United States.” Wikipedia LINK

“San Toy was practically a relic from the Wild West that grew out of the Appalachian foothills. It was a rough town where people frequently died in the saloons and streets.”

Was the town named after the boxer San Toy and was there a murder a day? Some say yes. I do know I should not have worn shorts to go tromping through the woods. LOL. The mine is filled in,the jail/prison only show their foundations but there is a modern church.

church  Do you think they still pray for the sinners of Old San Toy? Time to go into the woods and see what is left of the Ghost Town.

“In 1931 the 19 registered voters elected  to abandon the town. At one time There was a hospital,( only hospital in Perry County ) which was operated by the coal company; a movie theater, three schools; a drugstore; about six general stores; a pool room; seven saloons.” LINK. “The mine was sold from the New England Coal Company to the Sunday Creek Coal Company in 1915, the new owners of the mine and the town vowed to make it a "modern mining system and a model community." LINK
