2018 Garden Seeds Are Ordered

MQTlogoa Yes. I’m a “Quality Time” Tomato Snob……………… The “garden” consists mostly of tomatoes & peppers but not exclusively.

"The best way to garden is to put on a wide-brimmed straw hat and some old clothes.  And with a hoe in one hand and a cold drink in the other, tell somebody else where to dig." T.B. Bender

celebity “Tomato, Celebrity Hybrid This AAS Award Winner established a new standard for main-crop hybrids requiring multiple disease resistance. Highly adaptable from Canada to the South. Medium sized, globe-shaped fruits are crack-resistant and average 7 oz. Semi-determinate.”

Pepper, Sweet Great Stuff Hybrid A colossal stuffer at 7" long and 5" wide, ripens from green to dark red. Full Description The right stuffer! This Burpee exclusive produces enormous peppers at 7" long and 5" wide, ripening from green to dark red. Very productive and disease-resistant. Produces excellent yields under varied conditions. Days to maturity are from time plants are set in garden. For transplants add 8-10 weeks. Space plants 18-24" apart.

opalka Opalka Tomatoes the tomato sauce that we made with these tomatoes tasted great. The tomatoes were heavy for their size, very meaty, with only a few seeds. The vines were very vigorous growing to 5 1/2 feet tall. The production was good for such a large tomato. ( I saved the seeds from last years Opalka tomatoes.. great for sauce and taste is great for salads etc. This is a favorite of mine.

tomatoguy Have a great day… Some photos and text from Burpee.

“A farmer purchased an old, run-down, abandoned farm with plans to turn it into a thriving enterprise. The fields were grown over with weeds, the farmhouse was falling apart, and the fences were broken down.  During his first day of work, the town preacher stops by to bless the man's work, saying, "May you and God work together to make this the farm of your dreams!"   A few months later, the preacher stops by again to call on the farmer.  Lo and behold, it's a completely different place.  The farm house is completely rebuilt and in excellent condition, there is plenty of cattle and other livestock happily munching on feed in well-fenced pens, and the fields are filled with crops planted in neat rows.  "Amazing!" the preacher says. "Look what God and you have accomplished together!"  "Yes, reverend," says the farmer, "but remember what the farm was like when God was working it alone!"

You Will Not Have A Bad Time In The Badlands…just saying….

MQTlogoa Get ready for a “Quality Time” visit to Badlands National Park. PRESERVE OUR NATIONAL PARKS…… Let them know your wishes..Directory of Representatives

Badlands National Park (Lakota: Makȟóšiča) is a national park of the United States located in southwestern South Dakota. It protects 242,756 acres (379.306 sq mi; 98,240 ha) of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires blended with the largest undisturbed mixed grass prairie in the United States. The park is managed by the National Park Service. READ MORE

“Little is known of the prehistory of the region which comprises Badlands National Monument. The time of man's entry into the Badlands-Black Hills region is unknown. The oldest Indian site found in western South Dakota is in the Angostura Basin south of Hot Springs. Studies indicate it to be a little more than 7,000 years old. Evidence shows that these early people were big-game hunters who preyed upon mammoth, large bison, and other animals that lived in the lush post-glacial grass lands.” READ MORE

“Homesteaders Aspects of American homesteading began before the end of the American Civil War; however, it did not affect the Badlands until the 20th century. Then, many hopeful farmers traveled to South Dakota from Europe or the eastern United States to try to seek out a living in the area.” See what a typical homestead and sod house looks like:: CLICK CLICK CLICK  DSC_0151

“On Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, pine forests and massive upheaved rock formations of the Pahá Sápa (Black Hills) give way to Nature’s spectacular maze called the Makȟóšiča (Badlands), the Great Thíŋmakȟočhe (Prairie) and rolling Chasmú Pahá (Sand Hills). Even people from other cultures are quick to understand the Lakota Nation’s strong bond with Unci Maka (Mother Earth) once they see they the unique and amazing features of the landscape in this Sacred area.” READ MORE
