DSC_0005 AT THE PRESENT TIME THIS PARK IS CLOSED. MAYBE WE CAN CHANGE THAT BY VOTING YES ON ISSUE 14. SEE EARLIER POST. THIS NEXT PHOTO IS NOT ONE THE RESIDENTS OF FAIRFIELD COUNTY SHOULD BE PROUD OF.

PARKCLOSED  NOW FOR A QUICK TOUR OF WHAT WE ARE MISSING OUT ON:

DSC_0010 LOOKS TO ME LIKE A GREAT SPOT FOR A PICNIC. (JUST MY OPINION) WHAT DO YOU THINK?

DSC_0013 A suspension bridge over Salt Creek. The bridge, built in 1936, is the only existing WPA project in Fairfield County.

ON UP THE TRAIL TO THE INDIAN MOUND.

DSC_0025

“The mound is cross-shaped and about 90 feet across with a circular depression, 20 feet wide and 12 inches deep”The age and cultural affiliation of the Tarlton Cross Mound is not known. The cross symbol, however, was used extensively during the Mississippian period to represent the Sun. It is therefore possible that it was built by the contemporary Fort Ancient culture.” To me it looked like the cross was built north/south and east/west. I didn’t have compass with me so I don’t know for sure.

BY VOTING YES ON ISSUE 14 WE CAN HOPEFULLY UNLOCK THE GATE

DSC_0065 AND HAVE A PICNIC OR TWO,

DSC_0064 A STAFF OF ONE FOR OUR COUNTY HISTORICAL PARKS IS JUST NOT ENOUGH. TALK ABOUT UNDER STAFFING.

Ihate it when parks close and we've seen in happen in so many areas as we've traveled. Again, I sure hope the Measure passes. It would be so shortsided of people to vote against the parks.

Joe: I have a hard time understanding why people would ruin a park for everyone. Some people are just selfish.

It is very sad about the vandalism. I hope the issue 14 passes, it looks like a lovely park.

Their is a Fort Ancient near Lebanon, Ohio. Went there is the '60s with a college beau. LOL!

I hate when things closed! Here in VA they closed lots of rest stops on the interstates last year. This year our new governor re-opened them and we have noticed on our recent trip to VA Beach that these rest areas are filled with travelors. When you got to go you got to go! LOL!

I keep meaning to buy a compass for my wanderings about. Good luck on this project. Can't have too many parks. Thank you for visiting My Muskoka !

Hi Joe, It's raining at the beach today--so this gives me an opportunity to catch up with some blogging, some reading and some SLEEPING.. ha ha (What a life!)

What a neat park... Hope that county can get it opened back up..

Hope you are having a good week. TN got tons of flooding over the weekend, but our area is okay. I just feel sorry for those in Nashville.

LANCASTER -- The one countywide issue, a property-tax levy for 0.5 mills that would last 10 years for the Fairfield County Historical Parks District, went down to defeat Tuesday.
