An insanely good time:: “A two-story brick institution south of Francis Street, Williamsburg's public hospital was founded at the urging of Governor Francis Fauquier (pronounced "Fau-keer"). This hospital museum tells in a simple, and meaningful way the trials of caring for the mental illness during a time when little was really known about such a disease.

“The building housed 24 cells, all designed for the security and isolation of their occupants. Each cell had a stout door with a barred window that looked on a dim central passage, a mattress, a chamber pot, and an iron ring in the wall to which the patient's wrist or leg fetters were attached.”

There are  samples of the primitive treatment tools used on those found insane. Some of these are not for the weak hearted.

“TREATMENTS OF THE TIME” By our standards, treatment was crude, aggressive and abusive. Powerful drugs were used to evacuate the bowels, induce constipation or cause vomiting. Other treatments included blistering salves, restraining devices such as manacles and the strait waistcoat or straitjacket, a plunge bath or dunking chair, a small electricity machine to administer shocks, scarificators [scalpel-like devises for bloodletting] and cups for bleeding.  Sometimes obstreperous patients were bound to chairs to quiet them.  Many doctors thought that a certain amount of intimidation would induce patients to reconsider their ways. Poor Man & His Wife

 MORAL: To love is nothing, to be loved is something...!!!

.....A very poor man lived with his wife.

One day, his wife, who had very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed. The man felt very sorry and said no. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch he had just broken. She did not insist on her request.

The man went to work and passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife.

He came home in the evening with the comb in his hand ready to give to his wife.

He was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short hair cut.

She had sold her hair

and was holding a new watch band.

Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes,

not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love.

MORAL: To love is nothing, to be loved is something...!!!

Bipolar Nation Update::Guns, Gangs and Morals

I’m afraid this is a lack of Quality Time… SORRY

As the weather warms  more people frolic outdoors, plus it was the 4th of July:: Over the course of 84 hours during the Independence Day holiday in Chicago, 82 people were shot and 14 were killed. READ MORE  ( Maybe I missed this but I didn’t even see this mentioned on TV News.)

Over The Cliff

Quality time in the Hocking Hills….On the trail at The Cantwell Cliffs

Two Indians, Running Bear and Little Beaver went to the outhouse teepee, situated on the edge of a cliff.

After using the outhouse teepee, they went back to the village. The next day, they again went to the outhouse teepee.

Running Bear said, "Terrible, terrible, the outhouse teepee smells to high heaven! What should we do? We can't ever use it smelling like that!" Little Beaver suggested, "Why don't we just push the outhouse teepee over the cliff, and go build another one?"

They both agreed and pushed the outhouse teepee over the cliff.
A few days later, the chief of the tribe called a pow wow.

He asked," Who threw the outhouse teepee over the cliff?" No one answered. He then told this story.
When George Washington was a little boy, his father asked, "Who chopped down the cherry tree?" Little boy George Washington answered, "It was I father."

His father was so pleased with the answer, that he rewarded Little George Washington, and later in life, he became the Great leader of his nation.
"Now again, I ask, who pushed over the outhouse teepee?" Little Beaver said, It was I that pushed over the outhouse teepee, thinking he would get a reward. In that moment, the Chief jumped on Little Beaver and severely beat him. He ended up in the hospital.

A month later, the Chief was visiting the hospital, and came across Little Beaver. Little beaver asked," Chief, how come you beat me up?"

The Chief answered, "George Washington's father wasn't in the Cherry Tree!"
