We will head back to Chestnut Ridge for this SKY Watch Friday Only about 20 minutes drive from my home in Lancaster,Ohio I have found a great place to hike and view the sky.
Chestnut Ridge Metro Park rises more than 150 feet—reaching an elevation above sea level of 1,050 feet. The above photo shows the skyline of Columbus, Ohio. (Photo was taken from an overlook on the trail)
Now on the way to the metro park the skies had me a little worried:
Fortunately, many Ohio Farmers have already harvested their corn crop. As a matter of interest; Ohio corn growers planted an estimated 100,000 more acres of corn in 2009 than they did last year.
Well the hike is about over but I think one more look at the sky through the trees is appropriate.
As the sun goes down on the ridge a few of the oak leaves are highlighted.

I really enjoyed this collection of photos. Love the sky through the trees.
Looks like a wonderful place to visit. The sky images you captured are delightful. Love the clouds.
Looks like a gorgeous place! I like that skyline way in the distance. Good place for it!
I particularly like the shot in the first montage which shows the blue breaks in the clouds together with the silhouette of the power pole. Nicely composed.
Lovely shots, thank you for sharing. Funny, I'm viewing your world from an altitude here of 3900 feet, and looking out my window at mountains that reach almost 9000 feet. It's wonderful, this traveling around the world on Skywatch!
Hey Joe, We enjoy hiking up a mountain also... When I know there are views to be seen---that hike UP is worth it. One time we did a NINE mille hike up and down a mountain. When we got to the top--the fire tower (where the view could be) was closed... I was really upset.... Not my favorite hike..
Joe: Fun post with the skies over the park.
What lovely clouds and trees! Terrific captures, Joe! What a beautiful place!
Enjoy your weekend!
Skies have been grey over Ontario, too. Let's hope the sun comes out soon!
That looks like a wonderful place for a hike! Beautiful skies too! :)
What a wonderful place, you are lucky to have this so close to home. The skies are beautiful.
Joe I did not know there were so many places around Lancaster. I am still trying to figure out where the mill is ;-) No since of direction.
The bare trees are just beautiful! The transition of colors of the sky looks like winter is on its way!
Great sky photos and mosaics. the second mosaic with the trees is my favorite.
Lovely colors, and I like how you framed the shot!
I really like the texture and shape of the clouds!
... "Look what I saw from the gazebo"
Joe - beautiful skies as always. Wanted to thank you for the historical marker db link. We have always wanted to find something like that. When we were towing the big 5-wheel we couldn''t usually stop at them. It should be easier with our littler rig, bug it still is nice to be able to read more.
Really nice.I enjoy your blog.
Looks like your sky and my sky are thinking the same thing - people need to drink more water. LOL
You nake the collage very nicely.
A little worried? Wow! My heart would have been thumping big time! Knowing all went well...I will say these are amazingly beautiful!
Nice series of photos. I like the view overlooking Columbus in the distance.
Thanks for the visit. Have a great weekend, Joe.
Looks like a great place to hike. Glad the weather held out for you.
Wonderful sky photos - fantastic collage.

The sky behind the trees is not the actual sky it supposed to be.
When the sky is wide and open......
Wonderful collection of skies. I usually get to see some of them from over here on the Erie north shore. Great SWF!
I like Sinatra. I also like your blog. My nephew was killed in VIETNAM. i saw your picture and it reminded me...
I was in during the Korean War. Seems like a long time ago now.
These are wonderful photos! Those clouds would've had me a little worried too. :)
Have an awesome day, and thanks for visiting my blog,
Those stormy skies are incredible!
So dramatic! A very beautiful walk. Thank you. And thank you for visiting. What a contrast in landscapes!
Going back to Chestnut Ridge metro park for Scenic Sunday and Shadow Shot Sunday . Thanks to everyone for stopping by
Lovely varied skies Joe!
Those first ones show dramatic cloud shapes - lovely.
I like that view of the sky through the trees. I see a very similar view when I go hiking. It's one of the main reasons I go.
